It all started with the coastline of the Wirral, the odd image here and there that kept cropping up in my work. This theme grew and grew and before I knew it, I realised this was more an idea of ‘home’, a sense of someone’s retreat and what made that person who they are.
This developed in the last year of my degree, before finally settling on my idea of home and creating this idea through ceramics. Therefore I strive to make every one of my pots unique, as though they were washed up on a beach.
I want everything I make to have a personality, all my work is altered afterwards with the addition of found objects or glass pieces. The work is spontanious, but it does have rhythm and a very strong identity. It all comes back around to the shore, my home, and I hope you can see that in my works..
