Sophie Rosak

Sophie’s work developed from an interest in the manipulation process of boiling and steaming leather, and a curiosity in the aesthetics found in industrial constructions, focusing attention on the fixtures and fittings used to build them.

Through a collection of objects and lighting Sophie aims to celebrate the materials and process; by exploring the combination of leather and copper she constructs simple naive forms, emphasising the additional details left exposed, deliberately revealing the making processes.

The purpose of the collection is to encourage the questioning of importance, when juxtaposing manufactured processes of vast mass production against the sensitive quality of the handmade object.
